Queen Christina is a pre-code Hollywood movie that pushed boundaries for its time. It is certainly not historically accurate, but Garbo excellently portrays the interesting queen.

This portrayal hints at one of Christina's same-sex relationships, but doesn't delve much into it. The scene where Garbo memorizes the inn room after spending several nights with John Gilbert is memorable. This was one of the movies that built up to the implementation of the Hays Code. Other highlights are Christina's speech to the Swedish people, and, of course, the ending.

This is a good film to watch almost 90 years after its release.
