Disturbing doesn't really make it much justice. One of the most thought-provoking films I've ever seen. Fantastic lead performances by John Hurt, Suzanna Hamilton and Richard Burton, he who delievers a great curtain call showing, a very ironic curtain call at that (he too happened to die on the year 1984). Cinematography and soundtrack wise it's good too. That being said, the story was at points a bit confusing, most of the characters bland as woodsticks, and the pacing just on the dull side of things. Good movie, but too flawed to really make great justice to its classic novel.
