The film that I cherish above all others and revisit the most. Those who do not watch films in black and white, or films made before their date of birth, or those that star "old dead people" (as a total f**king idiot once said to me) are sorely missing out on one of those rare films that truly defines the term "movie magic." I saw it first around the age of 10, and it has never lost its grip on me. It had me scouring the local library for books on movie special effects, got me even deeper into a love of dinosaurs, solidified my already growing but youthful disgust of man as an unthinking destroyer of nature, and made me fall in love with the image of Fay Wray forever. My interest in Willis O'Brien's still astounding stop-motion work took me straight into Harryhausen territory in the next couple of years, and a movie geek was born. There are films in my Top 100-150 that I love equally as much (I have seen a ton of films, so the top 150 are just a drop in the bucket), but none have had nearly as much influence on me as the original Kong.
