Been meaning to ask you this for a while:
District 9 is higher in your chart and I believe you insulted Avatar so why is Avatar your icon?

Ha! Fair question! I joined Flickchart well before Avatar came out, and I was quite excited for it. I've never seen fit to change the icon, as I quite like it, so it remains. Also, I've never intended to "insult" Avatar, as I do like the movie. I hope to get the "Ultimate Edition" DVD for Christmas... (But yes, District 9 is better!)

I think you have a very strong top ten, great taste, i like all of them. Memento was spoiled for me, so my first viewing didn't have as much impact as it should have. People on the internet and friends just love to jump to the spoilers.

Thank you! Yes, I remember I lost interest a bit when it got to the Alien Resurrection doc, but the first three held my interest just as much or more than the movies themselves. That set's got the best extra features I've seen outside of Lord of the Rings.

It's great to see someone with TDK, BttF, and Aliens in the same top 10 list. I always enjoy reading your comments and it brought me relief to see that I wasn't the only one that thought that There Will Be Blood was too long a movie. It seems like we have some similar tastes as well. That's always a good sign.

Can I recommend "The Right Stuff" by Philip Kaufmann (1983). It's very similar to Apollo 13, based on the book by Tom Wolfe, but focuses on the broad history of the rise of NASA and the early exploration of space whilst also looking into the aviation achievements which made it possible. If you love Apollo 13, you'll love this one. My number 2, in fact it's a very close run thing between them.

MysticSpoon on 2/21/2013 Reply  ·

You still have to see Diamonds are Forever? So you saved the worst for last? ;) In all seriousness though, that one was really bad. It's incredibly campy and silly. It feels more like an unfunny, poorly acted parody than a true James Bond movie. Who knows, maybe you'll (really) like it, but be warned :P .

Teri Hatcher is actually the biggest problem I have with Tomorrow Never Dies. She's pretty annoying and pointless. But luckily she doesn't get a lot of screentime and I do like the concept a lot. What happened to all those Bondgirls? What happened to Honey Rider, Pussy Galore, Solitaire, etc. ? Having a Bondgirl (albeit one we haven't seen before) "return" to Bond is pretty interesting. Just like a Bondgirl who can kick some ass like Michelle Yeoh's character. And I agree with you on the villain; Jonathan Pryce was so hammy, I loved every second of it. "There's no news...like BAD news". Add an exciting car chase, a fun henchman, great action and an interesting plot, and you have an awesome James Bond movie.

You don't usually go on this channel right? Yeah, I thought the entire cast was phenomenal especially Cumberbatch and Simon Pegg were incredible. I loved the nods to Wrath of Khan. I can understand why you might be furious at the reverse thing they did in the film, but I loved it. I've seen Wrath of Khan and all Trek films but seeing as how I never grew up with them, it doesn't bother me.

****Spoilers for Star Trek Into Darkness (just in case)*****

I can understand your point of view as a Trek fan. I personally loved it and I thought it just added more to the character. However, there wasn't really any reason for him to be Khan, apart from them wanting to kinda remake Wrath of Khan and to bring back a memorable villain. I'm really curious, I can't remember if I asked you this but what were your thoughts on Kirk fixing the warp core and dying from radiation poisoning like Spock did in Trek II? I thought it worked and worked perfectly. Again, I'm not sure if I asked you this so if I did...i apologize.

Btw, I do love your #1 and #2 on Flickchart :P Any reason as to why you don't really like The Godfather? I also do need to really watch Heat, preferably over the holidays.

Can I ask you why do you love Heat so much? I have seen it twice, and while I did like it and enjoy it, it honestly did feel a bit long, and it is a film that I admire more than I enjoy. While I agree that the film is very well-made, has great cinematography, great acting, great storyline, great un-cliched characters, it just didn't work for me. Can I also ask you which version of Aliens would you recommend to me? I have seen Aliens Special Edition 2h 34min and to be honest, I didn't really like it that much? Would you recommend that I watch that version again or maybe another version? Which one do you prefer? Also The Dark Knight and the Last Crusade are awesome.

No problem man, never mind, I do that myself sometimes.

It does have a kickass action sequence. I also feel that the climax of the movie is a bit unrealistic. I am talking about the final standoff where Al moves in supersonic speeds and Robert movies in slow-motion. Well at least I don't think it is overrated, I do understand why people love it.

I agree with you very much, I couldn't have said it better myself.

I will see the theatrical version and then I will decide if the movie works for me or not. I did think that it was awesome, but I couldn't help but feel that it was a little bit overrated.

Here is a fact for you. I have seen The Dark Knight 18 times, yeah no kidding. I haven't added it to my list because I haven't seen it since the time that I started loving movies like I do now. There was a time that I was obsessed with the movie and I remember watching it everyday. How many times have you seen it and what movie have you seen the most times?

May I ask you what are those?

Yeah I remember watching Arnie's action movies over and over again when I was little.

Woah more than 20 times is a lot. Which version of the movies do you prefer? FOTR I was blown away with Theatrical version, disappointed with extended, TTT both versions were not that anjoyable to me, ROTK I didn"t enjoy theatrical that much but I was blown away with extended version. Which ones do you prefer?

Do you watch different movies with your kids? Or only cartoons? Are you trying to get them into films just like yourself?

I personally only rank movies I love/like and ones that I think are overrated, that's the reason for the low number of movies on my list.

I wouldnt know whether or not I would recommend Pulp Fiction to you. I think its overrated. E.T on the other hand I need to check out ASAP. Are there any movies you would like to recommend to me?

I think teaching your kids to love films is awesome. I wish I would see movies with my dad but he is tired from his job, and he can"t stand the TV. We do occasionally discuss some films like The Godfather Series. He loves them. :D

Hahahahahh yeah that makes perfect sense.

Lol I have seen all 4 of them. Yes my list is very bad. The first 3 that you mentioned are ones that I must rewatch. I remember seeing Princess Bride over and over when I was young. I saw Matrix some time ago and I remember loving it, but I must rewatch it be sure of its place on my list. I haven"t seen Ghostbusters in ages. But I love Bill Murray so I must watch it ASAP. Terminator I really liked, but If I ranked it, it would be in my 80s so I don"t bother with it (Yeah I'm lazy to rank it). I do need to rewatch T2 because I loved it as a kid, but when I rewatched the first 2 Terminators some months ago, I watched Director"s Cut of T2 and I really disliked it.

Did you think Monty Python and the Holy Grail was funny? I personally think it is funny, but some of the jokes are very dated. But I still love it.
