Ironic! People really are calling Avengers "The Godfather of comic book adaptations" and it's pretty much true. Great ensemble cast with depth! The action is all a superb bonus. Here, The Godfather is obviously the better film but Avengers is simply more fun. I feel like voting fun today!

Now that they are starting to compare Avengers to Godfather, this should be a very popular discussion. Ill give it to the superhero film, it is much more fun and revolutionary.

Godfather, obviously. Very few films compare to the Godfather as far as casting and script is concerned, and the Avengers is not one of them.

I'm in the minority to say that I didn't really enjoy The Godfather. Avengers surprised me as I was not a part of the hype upon its release but it has grown to become my second favorite film and all time favorite superhero film. It has an engrossing story with fleshed out characters and some of the best writing around. It even has the strange occurrence of appealing to those who aren't even Marvel fanatics. It's a truly amazing film. It really deserves the win here.

Oh I wouldn't go as far as this. The Godfather is a near perfect film.

The "Godfather of adventure films" vs The Godfather itself! I'll go with adventure over drama in this one, Alex just because...

@Solomeo, I liked The Avengers and all, but calling it "The Godfather of adventure films" is a bit of a stretch. The Godfather is a masterpiece while The Avengers is a very good popcorn movie. The Godfather is head and shoulders the better film.

Unlike pretty much everyone else on the planet, I did not enjoy The Godfather. I find it annoying that Coppola's alleged greatest achievement finds itself on the top of practically every 'greatest movie of all time' list. Avengers is fun, entertaining, and exists in a reflection of our reality that I will enjoy visiting again. While Coppola's reflection of reality might be more accurate or believable, it's far less appealing and not at all fun. Comparing The Avengers to The Godfather is like comparing a ride on a roller coaster to falling on broken glass.

WHEDON!

As much as I love 'The Avengers', there are few Behemoths that are out of its league, this is one of them.

Too easy.

on 8/1/2012

The Avengers isn't bad, but come on. The story isn't even a fraction as good as The Godfather.

on 8/1/2012

The Godfather wins but i need to see it again been a couple of years

on 8/3/2012

The Godfather. The Avengers is good, but not as masterful as The Godfather.

Godfather! There is no need for a discussion. The godfather is a classic. It has a great cast and a compelling plot, I cannot say the same for the the avengers.

on 9/3/2012

People always side with the classic over the instant classic but both are masterpiece films in their own way. If you don't have BOTH films on your DVD shelf you're not a true film fan.

Avenger7: I gave my Godfather copy to my brother so I guess I'm twice over "not a true film fan" ;_;

Avengers wins by a mile

on 12/8/2012

^ No. No it doesn't. No. Nope. Nah. Nyeh.

on 12/8/2012

Both are amazing in there own ways, but The Godfather wins. Though I must say The Avengers is more rewatchable.

on 12/8/2012

I don't plan to own either of the two on DVD. Ever :0

on 2/3/2013

The Godfather.

on Apr 12

Wait, 7 people said Avengers and 12 said Godfather...Seriously???? Its Godfather, the Avengers is a good popcorn flick and one of the best of 2012 but against what is quite possibly, the greatest film in movie history? I don't think so...Too easy

I take back what I said about The Avengers being more rewatchable. Also, The Godfather still wins.
