I can't really describe the feeling when i watched both movies. As a comic book fan, since i was a little kid, it was a nerdgasm. Gosh,it hurts to choose one here, but i'm pretty sure Avengers will fade away after some weeks. Watchmen won't. Ever.
The Avengers is an overall superior film, which lacks the problems in script and pacing from Watchmen. Watchmen is also great, though.
Avengers is an instant classic. Watchmen is crap on a stick. No better way to say it then that.
Hard to choose on this one.
I'm more of a Watchmen guy myself. I prefer dark, gritty and depressing over colorful, lighthearted and fun.
I agree; I, too, prefer dark, gritty and depressing almost every time.
Watchmen has a big blue dick. Avengers has a big blue dick with a shield.
Guess I'll go with the big blue dick with a shield.
They're both very different superhero "team" movies, one light-hearted, romping and epic, the other dark, brooding and deeply questioning of the political ramifications of superheroes in an alternate reality. I enjoyed Watchmen, but I think the main reasons why I liked it are inherent to the original graphic novel rather than Snyder's adaption. It's an interesting concept and story, but at the same time it's so faithful to the original material (for the most part) that there's very little distinction between the two. I know where it differs and those differences didn't bother me too much, although the alteration in the ending doesn't make sense if you think about it too much. The Avengers is a completely different and wholly original story on the other hand, and allows for much more entertaining character development, making the climax all the more spectacular. Close, but I'm going to go with The Avengers.
Just like MysticSpoon I prefer dark, gritty, and depressing over colorful, lighthearted, and fun. For some reason though, I prefer The Avengers. Both are great films.
I just prefer The Avengers. Watchmen didn't work for me that much
