Great match up, not just because they're both classic films based on Dickens novels, but because the studio (MGM) pretty much produced them as a pair ... notice that they were made the same year and share cast members. Unfortunately, I don't think they've aged well; both come across as a little cheesy nowadays. That cheesiness is less troubling in the lighter-hearted David Copperfield, however, than it is in A Tale of Two Cities. One of the things that DC lacks, though, is a strong central performance like the one Colman gives in Two Cities. I expected to like Cities better, but in the end I'm going with Copperfield.
