As Above, So Below vs. 28 Days Later...

I'll give props to As Above, So Below for at least doing the things which I would require for a film to be scary, and for genuinely scaring me on a few occasions. but I did watch it in a cinema (which always multiplies the fear-factor of a film) and it was relying on tropes which I had seen in at least half a dozen better movies. 28 Days Later might not be as traditionally scary, but it's sufficiently brutal and uncompromising that it more than makes up for it, and as a film in it's own right, from a character/story/filmmaking point of view, it is one of the best horror films of the new millennium in my opinion. 28 Days Later wins by murder.
