Beowulf vs. Jurassic Park

This match-up would seem a testament to the fact that special effects can either define a movie's legacy and longevity of artistic merit or merely gild what otherwise be a cinematic turd. It astounds me that years after the fact, Jurassic Park still looks stunning with a story that captivated the imagination. I find myself disappointed that Beowulf barely scratched the surface of living up to its potential both due to the pedigree of its source material as well as the resources available to its filmmakers from its cast to its arsenal of special effects and computerized imagery. Instead, friends and I unaffectionately refer to it as "Shreck Boobs."
