Sorry Alien, Halloween started the Slasher genre which I'm a sucker for.

I like Slasher flicks too and I love Halloween but I've gotta go with Alien here it's really a perfect movie. really good match up.

Alien is great, but Halloween is just more my type of movie and the one I would rather watch if given a choice between the two.

I'm going with Alien as well. I didn't watch any of these back in the day, maybe that has something to do with it. But I think Alien holds up way better and I never got to even like Halloween in the first place.

Halloween was the first true horror movie I saw as a kid. It scared the living hell out of me and it still does to this day. I saw Alien at a much later age so I don't think that the lasting appeal was as significant for me. It is still a great sci-fi flick with fantastic atmosphere but I'm choosing John Carpenter and his masterpiece.

Halloween recharged the slasher genre but didnt start it -while its one of my favorite films at #33 alien is way better more creative better acted only one year later yet had better effects and the creatures are a lot scarier the can come out of you they rape and impregnate you there was no where to hide or run in space Alien wins its my #11 favorite film a great film.

Alien is good, but I was kind of bored in parts. Halloween kept me enthralled the whole way through.

I'm kind of getting tired of Alien, The Thing, all this "Trapped with Alien" shit. Halloween was your 'Clichéd Slasher Film'. But now, it's quite different since we're talking about "The Creator of the Clichés". Alien remains as the best of the franchise, but Halloween is just more my cup of tea. I got a serious problem with space films.
Alien takes it, but both are great.

Halloween is in many ways a bad film elevated by excellent direction, photography, and a charismatic cast. Alien has no need for qualifiers, it is just excellent.

I've got to go with Carpenter on this one. Halloween profoundly shaped my love for film and horror. Alien did too, but Halloween is just a bit better.

I watched both movies and it's safe to say that Halloween is way better. At least for me. For me, the last 30 or something minutes of Alien is very unclimactic. Even though we care for some of the characters that doesn't mean it thrilled me. But the rest of the movie before that held up pretty well like the chest burst scene and the Jumpscares and the robot man guy. But with Halloween, the second half of the movie was crazy good. Good jumps scares, very intence, a great final girl, Amazing villain plus I found it way funner then aline. Plus the first half or the movie was creepy how that Michal guy was stalking the people.
