Bone Tomahawk vs. The Proposition

Well, we got a couple of gruesomely violent Westerns. The Proposition is the more consistently brutal of the two, and certainly the grimiest. Bone Tomahawk doesn't really get nasty until toward the end when the protagonists meet up with sadistic troglodytes. I find The Proposition more interesting character-wise, since the four guys in Bone Tomahawk are a more typical Western grouping of heroes. The Proposition is about bad guys of varying degrees of villainy. Where Bone Tomahawk becomes more unusual is how it takes a horrific route unlike most films of the genre. Though, The Proposition is violent enough to rival many horror films. Anyway, I'm more likely to watch The Proposition for entertainment purposes. I'd watch Bone Tomahawk again primarily to make better sense of it.
