Which alien is sweeter? I'd have to go with E.T. due to the nostalgia.

Flip sides of the same coin. Benevolent aliens are pretty dull, so THE THING wins this one by a mile.

E.T crushed The Thing in the box office takings back in 1982, so I'm going for the less cute alien in this instance.

E.T. all the way. I'm a huge John Carpenter fan and I loved The Thing, but the idea of E.T. is far more original and profound. It is interesting that they both came out in the same year. I'd love to watch both back to back one day just to see the contrast.
