Two awesome John Carpenter films. The Thing is in a class above Madness though. One of the best sci fi movies ever.

In the Mouth of Madness is quite good, but The Thing is definitely the superior Carpenter film.
The Thing is definitely the better film but ITMoM is an underappreciated gem of a film

ItMoM has two strikes against it: an enormous cast, and a hard rock soundtrack. But I will say now that I appreciate it just as much as The Thing.
