These are two intense, jolting movie experiences. While The Thing has some great scenes, The Exorcist has been a staple among my favorites for many years. The Thing is one of the most memorable Horror movies I've ever seen, just not as memorable as The Exorcist.

What a tough choice; two simple, brilliant, well-executed horror films. Even though evil is rarely represented so effectively as in The Exorcist, I have to go with The Thing, both for its amazing special effects and because it continually surprised me with the plots twists and turns.

The Exorcist>The Thing
I find The Exorcist overrated. Mostly because it took 45 minutes before it even went anywhere! The Thing is a masterpiece of horror and effective filmmaking!
