Call me crazy but I if I had to pick what to watch right now and these were the two flicks. I am afraid I would have to go with Shawshank.

Blade Runner Vs Shawshank Redemption .... are you freaking kidding me?! I've seen both of these more than 40 times. I've got the collectors edition of BOTH, and in my media room I have two huge posters for both as they're both of my favorite movies. This is torture!

Shawshank is great and very approachable but Blade Runner has enough depth for two great films.

Blade Runner does not have the advantage over The Shawshank Redemption in any area, in my personal opinion. The Shawshank Redemption is a movie-viewing experience. Blade Runner had absolutely no impact on me, unless you count how put off I was by it. Could not even get behind its hailed visual effects. I could not last more than an hour before shutting it off. The visual style can work, as evidenced by Dark City, but it doesn't here. Not at all.
