Citizen Kane may of been a revolutionary and important film, but Inception is just fun.
inception is fun but i am always amazed at the detail of Kane every time i watch it. I dont believe that their is such a thing as the greastest (or worst) movie ever but i wouldn't argue against kane.

I have to pick Inception, it's just the film I would watch if I had to pick between the two, even though Citizen Kane is masterful.

Citizen Kane is the right answer. Maybe "right" is the wrong word. You can certainly make a case for Inception, and even then it's still highly subjective, but from my viewpoint Citizen Kane has got to take this, based almost purely on influence alone. From what I've gathered, you could probably count the number of films whose influence and important is greater than, or equal to, Citizen Kane on one hand.
