Wow. Two terrible sequels and possibly Spielberg's worst two movies. I'm going with The Lost World since it ultimately disappointed me less.

I think calling Lost World "terrible" is unfair. Sure it's uneven, some of the characters are flatter than a cardboard cutout, and the weird ellipsis from the island to San Diego is destructively abrupt, but it also has some top-notch Spielberg sequences, like the raptors in the grass. It's nowhere near as bad as "1941" and "Crystal Skull."

Lost World is pretty terrible, however Crystal Skull is basically unwatchable whereas I could turn my brain off and not be offended by Lost World.
Doc_Brown: that's the thing with household franchise sequels: they always have some good ideas and concepts scattered around--and they better, considering their budgets and manpower--but that doesn't preclude them from terribleness in the "big picture" sense, I think.
The Lost World for me. I for one enjoyed it as a kid, and it is a simple blockbuster thrill ride. Crystal Skull underwhelmed.
