This one's very tough.

There's a lot of imagination on display in both movies, really. Arguably more so in Pan's Labyrinth, but in terms of sheer fun and rewatchability, I have to go with The Matrix.

Each movie is equally good in different ways. Pan Labyrinth is very mystical, different and unconventional, all in all a very well done film worthy of a lot of praise. The Matrix, on the other hand, apart from being a classic movie for the ages is the opposite of mystical. The environment of a pale green metropolis, sets the mood and action, and script does the rest. This is the hard one.

Oh man, this one is too tough. Though I should prolly go with the matrix.

Pan's Labarynth bored the shit out of me.

I didn't love Pan's Labyrinth as much as most people.

The Matrix has a cool factor that gives it an edge but Pan's Labyrinth is excellent.

Pan's Labyrinth was a good movie and very entertaining. But for me the post-apocalyptic world of The Matrix is what hooked me in. I love how they can go into the computer program and that Neo can bend reality! I thought it was very creative and entertaining, but they should have stopped while they were ahead.

I find you can't let sequels influence your decisions. The Matrix, Pirates of the Caribbean, Men in Black...so, so many other good movies have their reputations smeared by the films that came later. I'm guilty of doing it myself with Star Wars. The Matrix is just one of those movies that is SO DAMN GOOD, you have to push the bad taste of the sequels (which I don't hate as much as most, I think) out of your mind. Anyway, just typing this I want to watch both of these movies again. The Matrix totally wowed me. Pan's Labyrinth totally stunned me.

It's been a while since I've ranked these two against each other and with that time Pan's Labyrinth has risen to my top 10 while The Matrix remains in my top 50.

Both are good, but Pan's has so much more style and nuance. There are just so may layers and do I even need to compare the acting quality?

I don't LOVE Pan's Labyrinth, but its better than the crapfest that is The Matrix. It's more creative, less cliched, and doesn't have really bad leather outfits.

The movie is 12 years old, yet The Matrix's action scenes still look cutting edge. Pan's Labyrinth is masterful in its own right, but I find it to be too much of a downer to really love. The Matrix wins here.

How is this tough? The Matrix is only good, and runs itself on the CGI, action scenes and premise. NOtice how the sequels sucked, because we already saw the premise?

Pan's for me easy, The Matrix is good but Pan's is amazing
