A Chaplin contest! Is my laptop responding slowly because I don't see any comments to this match up. The Circus is an extremely underrated and enjoyable film, superbly directed and acted though Modern Times is one of Chaplin's top 3 as far as his Tramp films are concerned.

Gotta go with Modern times but you're right if your intention is call attention to The Circus which is always a joy to watch and easily top six Tramp.

Modern Times is a masterpiece. The Circus is 20 minutes away from being one.
