The Left-Handed Gun vs. Bonnie and Clyde

It's interesting that Arthur Penn was so strongly against making Clyde Barrow bisexual, as there's an awful lot of homoeroticism in the outlaw movie he made the decade before, including Paul Newman asking to see another man's gun in almost as sexual a manner as Faye Dunaway does in the later film. Oh well, I guess some people just can't recognize subtext, even when directing a Gore Vidal script.
