The Prestige vs. Minority Report

For some reason these two movies have been right next to each other in my estimation for quite some time. Way back in 2009 I made a best-of-the-decade list in which Minority Report beat The Prestige by 1 place. The Prestige wins my rewatchability metric but Minority Report wins for emotional resonance (unsurprisingly with cerebral Nolan vs emotional Spielberg). The Prestige has my favorite ending of the two, but Minority Report is such a tour-de-force of credible sci-fi world-building and fleshing out a great premise that it's hard not to call it the more accomplished film. I think what's going to tip the scales is the scene in Minority Report where Anderton reads the Miranda Rights. That's such a powerful moment both morally and emotionally that I don't think even the Prestige's daring puzzle can top it.

i actually really liked minority report. prestige...very misleading trailer pissed me off
