2001 is clearly more important but I feel Moon is more of a joy to watch

I agree. I don't think I'll sit down to watch 2001 again for a long, long time.

2001 is the one which is the classic, but my vote is for Moon

Despite 2001's clear influences on Moon (and the majority of Sci-Fi films for that matter), Moon has a warm, beating heart at the centre of its clinical, conservative future exterior, something 2001 never had (and the main reason why i have such a hard time getting to grips with Kubrick's work). Would watch Moon again long before watching 2001 again.

Moon is one of the most overrated films of the 21st century. Thankfully we have the brilliance of Kubrick.

@FilmOdyssey I don't think Moon is overrated at all. I mean just look at the stark difference in people who have watched/rated these two films in the statistics. It's not even close, most people don't even know Moon exists. That being said, 2001 wins here as it's one of the most influential movies of all time. But Moon is a good movie in its own right. Unfair to say its overrated
