Here are the two most recent Best Picture Oscar winners, neither of which really deserved the honor. It's hard to deny, however, that they're both good movies. I give a slight edge to Argo in this matchup, just because The Artist is a little too much on the cutesy side.
I actually think "Argo" might have been the one a little too much on the cutesy side. It reminded me of Soderbergh's "Ocean's 11"--which I liked much better. "The Artist" was great and not too bad of a job by the academy. "Argo" winning was a joke.

Absolutely no question to me....Argo mauls The Artist. The Artist was a fine movie that I forgot about 10 minutes after I saw it....

Apes for me
Sorry for the weird comment when I was ranking movies it popped up Rise of the Planet of the Apes and right about when I was about to click comment it for some reason switched to this but between the two Argo wins in my book

Argo. Artist is good but couldn't make its up of being a celebration of the silent era or just a depressing period piece.
