Not an easy matchup. This is a good fight between two well respected horror films. I think Hellraiser holds up very well and is sufficiently disturbing tale with its message of the blurring distinction between pleasure and pain. 28 Days has a more "this could happen" tone to it, but beyond the emptiness of London, I'm not sure how much lasting appeal it will have - despite its strong sequences and characters. I think Hellraiser has a more original story, and to me, has a more emotional impact by the time the credits roll.

Tough decision indeed. Gotta give it to 28 on re-watchability, and as I made that decision, Jesus Wept.

The problem with Hellraiser is you can tell they wanted to make it this "hedonistic" Frenchie-type sadomasochistic thing that Throbbing Gristle fans could stroke their chins to, but at the end of the day, they had to make it an 80s Horror Movie(tm) that could stand alongside franchise slasher films in video stores. Consequently it doesn't wildly succeed as either. Strangely I have to give this one to the running zombie movie.
