No question here for me. The Notebook is all right, but Sleepless in Seattle trumps it. Neither have aged particularly well, but the Hanks/Ryan movie is the better by far.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Sleepless in Seattle is artless, chick flick twaddle with a few scenes (i.e. Garber/Hanks/Wilson at the table) that cause us to wonder what may have been in more able, less ham-handed hands than Nora Ephron. The Notebook, while not perfect, is at least trying something grander and real. Plus the Gosling/MacAdams chemistry is palpable and drives the film in spite of the director's or writer's wishes. Hanks/Ryan, while charming individuals, are almost 100% passion free in a film whose only chemistry is borrowed from An Affair to Remember. Notbook, and it isn't even close.
