Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush carry Pirates; without them, it's not really all that special. And it's a bit too long. Meanwhile, X2 is probably about the same length, but doesn't feel like it to me. And the entirety of its great ensemble cast is in fine form. X2 was my favorite comic book movie for quite a while, until Christopher Nolan came along...
