Whoa. Haha. Nice. Intriguing matchup, but Kubrick still wins.
"2001" is cool, but few films beat "Zodiac" for me.
I'm still deciding which one I think is better, but I can certainly say that I enjoyed Zodiac much more.
Yeah, these are pretty "cold" movies, if that's the right word. Neither of the two makes the effort to explore its characters, and one can sense an overreliance on visual aspects. Still, great films. Zodiac was slightly more interesting, I guess. Had enough thrills and jump-out-of-your-seat moments to keep my attention throughout. The Lake Berryessa murders were truly disturbing. Hitchcock would've been proud of the basement scene, which still remains one of the most intense scenes I've ever seen. Tension levels went through the roof in that one. Zodiac also succeeds in getting the facts related to the killings right. The emphasis on specifics makes you wonder at times if you're actually watching a docu. I mean that in a good way!
2001 is just on another level.
