Even though Eugenie is kinkier and has more nudity, it's not as torrid as The Lovers. Marie Liljedahl of course cannot hold a candle to Jeanne Moreau. What I really think brings Eugenie down, though, is that it always seems silly more than menacing. It's got a groovy musical score and some pleasing visuals, but the whole sadism thing doesn't have any kick to it.
