Spotlight was great, but it wasn't 'snorting coke in a catastrophic boating situation' great.

Although I favored Mad Max and The Revenant over Spotlight for Best Picture, it's hard to argue the decision. Spotlight is tremendous---perhaps the best written of 2015 for me. The Wolf of Wall Street was my favorite of 2013, but in that scenario I'd say the same thing; I have no issues with 12 Years A Slave taking it. But in the contest of these two, The Wolf of Wall Street wins by a wide margin---not necessarily because it is a far better film, but because what it does is so memorable. The Wolf of Wall Street is the shortest 3h film I've seen.
