Kontroll vs. The Phantom of the Opera

Masked killers who disappear into the tunnels and secret passageways of public buildings. In on the Budapest undergound, in the other L'Opera. They also have similar structures with moments where the killer emerges in fantastical, dream-like sequences of fancy-dress balls. Kontroll is the more psychological suggesting that the killer is an aspect of the protagonists personality that he has to overcome, while The Phantom ends up in Seine. boom-tish. I'm picking Kontroll here. I love the 1930s melodrama, but in the end 2000s grim reality trumps it.
