Tough choice. Manhattan is Woody Allen's best effort to straddle the line between comedy and drama (and middle-aged angst). Just possibly one of the best 100 films ever made. On the other hand, The Lady Eve is just a lot of fun - one of my favorites.
While I don't particularly like screwball comedies, I find The Lady Eve to be pretty watchable. That's more than I can say about the near-unbearable Manhattan.
