Yep, swap robot with alien and there ya go! Even government agents and all. Both are still great and have enough of a different feel though, don't they?

The Iron Giant is more depressing however

Very similar in many respects. While my choice isn't necessarily the most popular, I like The Iron Giant a bit more, though that could change with additional viewings of either. Still, these two films, as they stand, are almost perfect.

The Iron Giant is a great movie, but E.T. is probably one of the best films of its kind.
