Clint Eastwood ... bah ... I'll take the crew of Serenity any day.

Okay, a) Clint Eastwood rocks, and b) Josey Wales rocks. Okay, and alright, c) Serenity rocks. But (c) will always come with a caveat, since Serenity wasn't as good as Firefly (even in their respective media, i.e. movie vs. television series) -- and without Firefly, Serenity can't stand on its own. You don't empathize with characters very much and a lot goes unexplained. It's not Clint's best movie, but it's right up there for me. Josey Wales wins this one.

One of the great things about this site: it's which movie I choose, head to head, given my experience, tastes, preferences, biases, whatever. I loved Firefly and don't have to worry about what watching Serenity would've been like without having seen the series. For me, in my list, Serenity blows the doors off Josey Wales. That said, when I was in 8th grade or so, and my local non-network over the air channel played movies at 3pm with a them each week, "Squint Like Clint Week" was one of my favorites and I actually thought Josey Wales was one the better movies. However, I think Screengrab in Exile (maybe it was Onion AV Club?) anyways ... someone recently did a decent job documenting how overrated Eastwood is. I'll never watch Josey Wales again and won't miss it. The Serenity DVD has lots of plays in its future.
