ParaNorman was one of the biggest surprises of 2012 for me. Wonderfully dark and funny, not to mention beautifully animated. I was also impressed with the tone and eeriness of The Woman in Black. It definitely succeeded in creeping me out, and I was happy with the ending and how the events all played out, but it didn't ever quite entertain me as much as ParaNorman was able to.

I love the Woman in Black. It's creepy and subtle and Daniel Radcliffe proved he can do awesome things outside of Harry Potter.
