Star Wars.

Greatest Vietnam Movie ever made vs the film that created my obsession. Tough choice indeed. As much as I love the smell of Napalm in the morning it has to go to Star Wars on this one.

Do you guys know that George Lucas was the original director "Apocalypse Now" -- he commissioned the screenplay and oversaw the story development -- but decided that using metaphors about Vietnam would be a subtler way to go about it, and made "Star Wars" instead? So these movies really do belong as a double-feature! I love "Star Wars", especially the first two (or IV and V, depending how old you are), but "Apocalypse Now" is just too fabulous.

never knew that. great info

Wow, I didn't know that either. Definitely food for thought. These are two great films, but I think the choice is obvious. Sorry, Mr. Now.

Ack.

It's a close one, time for another coin flip.

Star Wars? Or Apocalypse Now? I'll pick the one that wasn't made by George "Most Successful Hack in Cinema" Lucas.

Apocalypse Now made something brilliant of terribly uninspired source material. Star Wars made something terribly uninspired of a decent enough idea. My choice is obvious.

Going with Apokalypse Now. One of the few movies where all falls into place: the music, the setting, the acting. Close to perfect.

Two classics from the 1970's. Apocalypse Now, while being the more fascinating film, simply doesn't provide the sheer entertainment that Star Wars: Episode IV does. Advantage: Star Wars.

Two classic movies but I choose the one with the most heart. Star Wars.
Star Wars smashes.....

I guess they are similar. They both include wars. I have to go with Star Wars, it was so much better and it can be watched a million times and you can never get sick of it.

apocalypse now, no question

Star Wars is enjoyable but not as good as people make it out to be. Apocalypse Now has everything and is the clear winner for me. It blows Kids Wars out of the water.
Star Wars...by far.

i guess i should have watched as a kid but now star wars seems terribly overrated. Apocalypse now may not be everyone's piece of cake but i can hardly recall another movie that has left me so shocked. AN & its not close.
