Reservoir Dogs vs The Big Lebowski.....why?

on 7/16/2009

Another painful choice. One that greatly depends on mood. I've got to give the slight edge to Reservoir Dogs.

Well perhaps if Pulp FIction never came out I would give Reservoir Dogs the edge...but it did...so...FUCK IT I'M GOING BOWLING.

"Reservoir Dogs" was interesting, but there are many scenes that feel much more like a play than a film. "Lebowski" remains a unique story, with rich characters and an engrossing story.

Lebowski offers a full package of great drama and many laugh out loud segments.

The Big Lebowski dishes ridiculous characters, hilarious dialogue, and one Jeff Bridges. And hey, that rug really tied the room together, man.

The Big Lebowski. much more watchable, especially with a white russian or two

I just watched Lebowski for the first time. Finished it half an hour ago, and this is my first ranking for it. I don't love either movie, but there are aspects of both that I liked. It's hard to argue against "Stuck in the Middle with You" as one of the most gripping scenes I've ever seen in a film. Meanwhile, I loved John Goodman's unhinged character in Lebowski, and laughed out loud a couple of times, but...I dunno. Frankly, I think these two are going to wind up fairly close to each other, in about the middle of my chart.

Agh.... difficult! But I think Reservoir Dogs has the edge here, but I really do love The Big Lebowski too....

Big Lebowski

Gah, both are incredible treats, but Big Lebowski is just a more entertaining movie, especially on repeat viewings...with friends!

Okay let's see here, which has the better script (The Big Lebowski), better acting (The Big Lebowski), a more compelling story (The Big Lebowski), a religion behind it (Dudeism, Big Lebowski, and I'm not a follower), memorable side characters that don't matter to the plot but they are still awesome (The Big Lebowski: Nobody Fucks With The Jesus and Shut the Fuck Up Donnie). Now The Big Lebowski has more memorable lines then Pulp Fiction and it is better is many ways. I still really do enjoy Reservoir Dogs, but the Dude has to get this victory from me.

Suddenly I find myself leaning towards Reservoir Dogs.
