rise was definitely the better one i think, but I really do think the 2001 planet of the apes got a bum wrap its not going to knock your socks off but its a good kick back on the weekend type of movie that you can mindlessly enjoy

Rise is much better. But I don't loathed Planet of the Apes like a lot of people do, hate the ending though.

Sure, Tim Burton's version of Planet of the Apes isn't offensively bad, but it should have been so much more than what it was. The franchise deserved better and, ten years later, it got a movie worthy of the Planet of the Apes name. Rise of the Planet of the Apes was one of the best films of 2011.
