Murder by Decree vs. Dressed to Kill

Two incarnations of Holmes and Watson. I like neither. I remember watching the Rathbone and Bruce at 6pm on weekday evenings on BBC2. I liked them then, but I was about 9, and was lacking in discernment. This particular example is terrible. The acting amounts to reciting lines in costume in order collect the pay check. I believe it was the last of their Sherlock Holmes films, and you can why. It's so tired. Murder by Decree isn't much better. The plot is contrived and convoluted. The rest is flat, boring and lifeless. There is no joy or humour. But at least they're making an effort here, so Murder by Decree wins.
