'X-Men' is a great super-hero movie. 'Elephant', however, is a great movie period.

In a way, Elephant is the total opposite of a comic book movie. It shows everyday life in long, very long shots, has no fast cuts or a fast pace for that matter and is boring at times (even though that counts for some comicbookmovies too) But all of these elements create a world that is believable, and apart from some clumsily delivered lines, the last 20 minutes of the movie are some of the most intense cinema I have ever seen. As fun as X-Men? No. Better than X-men? Hell yeah.
