Two of my favorite movies. I want them to tie. :(

Okay, you've got two spectacular performances--Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow and Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark--in two big, loud blockbusters. Each performance is what carries its respective movie to greatness. However, without Depp, Pirates is nothing. Yet, everything else about Iron Man also works. It would not be a great movie without Downey, but it would still be a good movie. Can't necessarily say the same for Pirates.

You and I are about in agreement, johnmason. I do feel that The Curse of the Black Pearl is a better film than you give it credit for. Still, it can't hold a candle to Iron Man. And, if I had to choose, I'd take Robert Downey Jr. over Johnny Depp any day.

Pirates is so entertaining every time. You can come in at any point

Pirates is great fun. Iron Man is an outstanding spectacle.

Two of the better recent blockbusters. Iron Man takes it for being slightly more subtle and for seeming to be an hour shorter (even though it's only 17 minutes shorter)

pirates is the better

Iron Man really is an instant classic with a worthy follow up. The Curse of the Black Pearl is great fun but the taint of the sequels drags down a fun original because I simply can't block out all that CGI crap in the years that followed.

They're both wonderfully good. They both have two fantastic starring performances. 2 of the best blockbusters of the 2000s, but Pirates sneaks by.

I really like both films but iron man is the better film

Close, but the Pirates win it.
