Both smug and self-aware...will go with The Graduate for the superior writing.

The Graduate has a very 60s feel although it’s really quite timeless. Same for The Breakfast Club and the 80s. Both deal with the uncertainty of youth and the disconnect between generations. These are two of my all time favorites.

When compared to other coming of age films, The Graduate seems really dated. Breakfast Club for me.
The Breakfast Club is less irritating.
