Stop Making Sense vs. The Last Waltz

WOW. Here's a clash of titans if ever the was such a thing. 2 of the greatest concert films ever made. Last Waltz is laden with pathos and is as much a statement about the excesses of the late 70's as it is a document of a great group's final shindig. But Stop Making Sense is insanely compelling, and it's all down to David Byrne's performance. The oversized suit, the tape deck accompaniment, the nerdish badassery inherent in his white boy funk. And the band plays magnificently. gotta go w SMS.

People who don't like Talking Heads are idiots. Their late 70s-early 80s material anyhow. However, Stop Making Sense always struck me as too pompous and tryhard-dada, and it was made to promote their first shitty album, so a number of the songs are bad.
