Very close. I prefer How to Train Your Dragon over either of them, but I'd say these two are on the same level.

Tangled was surprisingly great but Toy Story 3 surpassed my ridiculously high expectations so it wins out in this case.
TS3 blows Tangled away.

Tangled was cute, but the last five minutes alone make me give this to TS3.
Loved them both, but I'm gonna say Toy Story 3 without hesitation. And I agree with nclysander, the ending of Tangled wasn't that great.

Tangled is fun, but for some reason, I can't seem to get past the fact that a traditional Disney princess movie was animated by computers. Toy Story 3 is technically amazing, but I can't seem to get past the fact that it is so damned hard to watch. I mean, seriously, I don't think any movie has manipulated my emotions and devastated me on quite the same level, even on second viewing. Tangled, I've only just seen, so it's really fresh in my mind. I'm letting my chart sort itself out on this one for now.

I admit right now that Tangled is one of my all time favorite movies. And I love it a lot more than Toy Story 3. Malie, nclysander, I gotta disagree with you guys the ending was wonderful. But not as emotional as the Lantern scene. It's great. johnmason; you do have a point that it isn't in hand drawn animation but the CG animation was beautiful. I loved Tangled. No arguement.

both of these were just a failure

wrong, none of these failed but were in fact at least good while toy story 3 was a great trilogy ender
Disney/Pixar should be the ONLY company making these animated films. Seriously!

Malie, Siskebert: I must not have stated my thoughts clearly. "Tangled was cute, but the last five minutes [of TS3] alone make me give this to TS3." I wasn't trying to rag on Tangled's ending, which was fine, but rather to say that Toy Story 3's was so moving as to make any other decision besides the one I made out of consideration (for me).
And, Ellemac, while I agree that PIXAR is the most consistent of contemporary animation studios, would you really want to put Dreamworks out of commission after their brilliant work on How To Train Your Dragon? I'm all for pro-PIXARism, but let's not go overboard here.

Toy Story 3 definitely better; an emotional ending to a series that I had grown up with. Tangled is also great and showed positive signs for the future of Disney
Toy Story 3 is my favorite animated film.
Toy Story 3 by destruction....
