Taken is a satisfyingly straight-forward, no frills tale of ass-kicking. If you're in the mood for watching a guy brutally kill a bunch of unambiguously evil villains, then it's at least good for that purpose. Lost in America has a bit more substance and wit and general rewatchability, though. It was one of my favorite comedies back during my avid cable watching days as a youngster, though I wasn't really old enough to fully understand the motivations of the main characters. As an adult, though, I would have to say Lost In America did play a large part in shaping my philosophy of life (even if the way the movie ends is at odds with that philosophy). Yeah, Lost In America is definitely better. I wouldn't mind mixing some of Taken's ass-kicking into my philosophy, however, but without the frightening global implications if all CIA agents acted the same way. Maybe Taken is kind of deep?
