Both are memorable, classic, masterpieces. Psycho is just a little bit more of that than Vertigo is.

Hitchcock's two greatest masterpieces, and that's certainly saying something given all of the great films he's made. But Vertigo is my favorite film of all time.

Two of the greatest films ever made. Man, this is a tough call... I can go either way. Psycho. No, Vertigo. No, Psycho. I can't!
Its better pacing and stronger lead performance make Psycho an easy winner in this matchup.

Hitchcock was a good craftsman but his films are superficial. Psycho is probably his best movie strictly for what it's not (a jumbled mishmash of neo-noir and "on the run" boredom). Bernard Herrmann makes Vertigo seem a lot more convincing than it is.
