The Light Across the Street is about how Brigitte Bardot is married to a guy who suffers from mental problems after a truck driving accident. Pretty much every guy wants to get with her, which makes her husband jealous and unstable. Whip It is a cutesy roller derby movie that manages to warm my heart to a moderate extent. The Light Across the Street probably would've been better if not for the anti-climactic ending. Also, the the dramatic build-up is lacking. Most of the movie is just Bardot looking hot and guys leering at her. So I guess the entirely inoffensive Whip It wins, despite having no edginess to speak of.
