Two great comedies. Really tough

StrangeLove indeed!

These are probably my two favorite comedies of all time. On one hand, Strangelove is much more of an intelligent satire, with stone great performances. But on the other hand, I laughed more at Modern Times, and it a lot of heart.

It's amazing how you can have two comedy films that are vastly different but equal in quality. That's how I feel about these two. Strangelove is probably the best dark comedy I've ever seen, and Modern Times is probably the best slapstick comedy I've ever seen. This is a coin flip if there ever was one. Both are top 30 on my chart currently, but MT has the edge.

I would personally say, despite Sellers's and Scott's brilliance, that Modern Times is funnier, but that Dr. Strangelove is better. It stands out to me as the best comedy of all time.

I'll go with Chaplin, no doubt...

pretty close for me. both are absolutely brilliant, but i think i prefer kubrick's comedy (plus it was funnier, if only by a bit)
