Brando over Chaplin. Both demonstrated brilliance.
Modern Times is very clever, but it's not nearly as easy to enjoy as The Godfather.

Two outstanding films. For me, it's Chaplin's best vs. Coppola's best. I love MT's pace. It's right to the point. I find it easier to sit and enjoy on a casual level whereas TGF is a bit more taxing. TGF is probably the proper choice, but I prefer MT.

the godfather might be the technically better film, but i don't like it much while i love modern times
