"Slumdog" was the first movie in a long time that got me emotionally invested in its characters. It might be unfair, since the "Toy Story" characters had a 15 year head start, but I'm going with "Toy Story 3" here for advancing that series's theme about finding one's place in a changing world.
I loved Slumdog when it came out, I left the cinema all aglow with general good vibes. The same is true of Toy Story 3. There are things I don't like about both films, but somehow it feels unnecessary to go into that. I'll just pick the one I love the more. Toy Story 3.

I bought into both movies wholeheartedly. The furnace scene in Toy Story 3 is one of the most wrenching scenes in any flick, let alone a "kid's movie," so kudos to Pixar for using toys of all things to illustrate the value of friendship when staring at our own mortality.
