one of the greatest horror movies ever vs one of the greatest gangster movies ever..... Kubrick vs Scorsese..... Nicholson vs De Niro..... Goodfellas takes it by a whisker
Few movies have actually scared me in my life. The Shining is one of them...
Yeah, The Shining is pretty damn horrifying. I'm going with that.

The Shining redefined the horror genre. I can't help but wonder how The Shining would've turned out if De Niro had been cast instead of Jack. Would've been awesome!

The Shining is not one of the handful of films that can beat GoodFellas.

Goodfellas wins a very close matchup. Both are absolute masterpieces not only of their genres, but of cinema in general.
I like gangster films more than horror film and this matchup is no exception. Going with the 'Fellas.

A very close match-up here, but GoodFellas just wins. Though both are due for re-watches soon, so it could likely change.

i have to say that i don't know wich movie is better, but jack torrance is a horrorific and a realistic influence for the audience

Not that I don't like Goodfellas, but its way overrated. The Shining easily wins this one.
